We rescued a dog!

Meet the newest addition to our household, Kiba – a two year old Siberian Husky. She is a rescue dog originally from the streets of Taiwan.
The wife and I had been researching dog breeds (mainly Huskies) and dog adoption for the past 3-6 months, and decided now was a good time to adopt. The sheer amount of dogs that need rescuing, in Canada alone, meant we just couldn’t go out and buy a puppy. The most rewarding way to own a dog, is to rescue one in need.
We rescued Kiba from Island Dogz in Victoria, BC this weekend. We don’t know too much about her history apart from the fact she was taken in by the rescue group Tuapa (Taiwanese, non-profit animal rescue facility) who has links with Island dogz. Huskies don’t do well in hotter climates, so she must love her new surroundings here in North Vancouver. Steps from the mountain trails, tons of off-leash dog parks, and SNOW in the winter!
Island dogz are doing a fantastic job, and I can’t say enough good things about them. They were extremely helpful finding the right dog for our needs (Moderate energy levels to keep up with our active lifestyles, but not so high it would hard to control). They recommended Kiba and the rest is history.
Island Dogz were very professional and we highly recommend anyone in the Vancouver/Vancouver Island area looking for a dog, to check out their website as a first port of call. They are always on the look out for not only people to adopt, but also for foster homes due to the high number of dogs being saved from from euthanisation.
